Talk to excel using AI ?

yup here's everything you need to know

3:47 AM last Sunday.

I was wide awake, staring at my laptop screen like a zombie.

I just discovered I can literally talk to my data.

Not metaphorically. Literally.

I was supposed to discuss our Q2 performance review with the team on Monday morning.

Classic me - left it for Sunday evening.

I had spreadsheets everywhere. Revenue data. User analytics. Survey responses. Marketing spend. A complete mess.

Usually, I'd spend the next 8 hours:

I thought I would quickly check Twitter(X) for a few minutes and get to work. Someone had posted about "conversational analytics."

And I thought maybe…just maybe…I could just ask my data questions to AI?

Uploaded my revenue spreadsheet.

Asked it:"Hey AI, why did our signup rate drop by 23% in May?"

AI thinks for 3 seconds

"Your highest-converting blog post from April got buried on page 3 of Google. Also, your prime competitor launched a free trial in April."

"Your highest revenue days are Tuesdays and Thursdays, but only when it's not a public holiday. Also, customers who sign up at 2 PM spend 40% more than others."

I sat there like… 🤯Then got curious.

"Why Tuesdays and Thursdays?"

"Your email campaigns go out Monday evenings. People see them Tuesday morning and act. Thursday signups happen primarily because of your Wednesday LinkedIn posts."

The AI was right. About everything!

Like it knew my business better than I did. And maybe it did?

The nerd in me could not stop there. From data modelling and predictive forecasting, to correlation matrices and cool visualizations, I did it all.

Spent the next 4 hours asking everything:

Each answer was like finding hidden treasure. I was now ready to bamboozle my team in the Monday meeting.

Yes that’s cool Vaibhav…but which tool? And how do I use it? Is it free?

Relax…Vaibhav Potter would love to teach you his ways!

Before we jump into it, let’s take a glance over what’s cooking in the AI world.

This week in AI: Evolution, Economics, and Employment

3 New AI tools that made me stop scrolling

1. PromptForge - A prompt engineer's dream tool

A proper "workbench" for prompt engineering with systematic evaluation, built-in analytics, and variable testing.

Instead of the usual "write, test, pray" cycle, you get comprehensive test suites and AI-powered feedback before you even hit send.

If you're serious about prompt engineering (and not just winging it), this could save you hours of trial and error.

2. The Influencer AI - Create your own digital spokesperson

Upload 10 photos of yourself (or anyone) and boom - you have a consistent AI influencer that can star in unlimited photos and videos.

We're talking try-on videos, product demos, talking head content - all without ever picking up a camera again.

The creator economy would get very weird. And very efficient.

3. VoltOps - The AI agent debugger

Think of it as "developer tools" but for your AI workflows. You can trace every step your agent takes, debug when it goes off the rails, and monitor performance in real-time.

It works with any framework (LangChain, AutoGPT, or building custom agents), and you can finally see what's happening under the hood.

If you're building AI agents and tired of playing detective with console logs, this is a game-changer.

AI Prompt of the Week

AI Meme of the Week

Back to Wingardium data-osa…

By the way, I aced my Monday meeting ;)

I shared my screen. Reactions?

Amal from marketing: "How did you find this correlation?"

Dileep from product: "When did you learn SQL?"

Ashu from sales: "We need to change our strategy" (all names changed for privacy)

I was dropping insights like I'm some data god.

And now it’s your turn. Here's exactly what I did (and you can copy it):

The 10-minute setup:

  1. Get your data ready (any format works - Excel, CSV, Google Sheets)

  2. Go to Julius AI (or similar tools like Polymer, Qlik)

  3. Upload your file

  4. Start asking questions like a curious 5-year-old

Yes, that’s it! To be fair, the real magic lies in the questions you ask

Instead of asking "What's my conversion rate?" ask:

  • "What do my best customers do differently?"

  • "What patterns would surprise me?"

  • "If this data could tell me one secret, what would it be?"

  • "What am I spending money on that doesn't work?"

  • "What's working better than I think?"

Want an advanced move?

Upload multiple files at once. Sales data + marketing data + customer feedback.

Ask: "Tell me a story that connects all three datasets."

Watch your mind explode. There are unlimited possibilities and use cases.

A few examples…

You see how simple this is?

You don't need to be a data scientist, SQL expert, or Excel wizard.

You just need to be curious. And maybe a little obsessed with finding patterns (like me at 3:47 AM).

Your spreadsheets have been keeping secrets. Time to make them talk.

Want me to interrogate your data?

I'm genuinely addicted to this stuff now.

Send me your messiest dataset and your biggest business question.

I'll have a conversation with your data and send you back the most interesting insights I find.

First 15 people who reply with their data question get a free "data interrogation."

Promise: No boring charts. Just insights that'll make you go "holy shit, really?"

[Just reply to this email with your data question]

Existential crisis of the week

If AI can understand my data better than I can... If it can spot patterns I'm blind to... If it can predict my business better than my intuition...

What exactly is my job anymore?

Am I becoming smarter by asking better questions, or am I just becoming really good at talking to machines?

P.S. - My AI just analyzed the engagement data from my last few newsletters while I wrote this. Apparently, you all love it when I share these 3 AM existential crises. The data doesn't lie :)

Reply to this newsletter and let me know your craziest data discovery. I would love to read em all

Until next time,
Vaibhav
